The Wildlife Management Institute, in combination with Chase & Chase Consulting and Southwick Associates, has created a spatial analysis of hunters. This dashboard is meant for wildlife or natural resources professionals to learn 1) how their resident hunters are geographically distributed, 2) where resident hunters are under- and over-represented, 3) what states their nonresident hunters originate from, and 4) what other states their resident hunters hunt in. Click here or click on the image below to access the dashboard.

The Resident Hunters graph represents the raw count of hunters per zip code, as reported by the State Fish and Wildlife Agency. The Resident Hunters per Capita graph is the raw count of hunters divided by the total number of residents. The Sources of Nonresident Hunters graph depicts the states whose residents travel to the target state to hunt as nonresident hunters. The Residents Who Hunt Elsewhere graph depicts the states to which the target state’s residents travel to hunt as nonresident hunters. Click here to access the technical report
These visualizations represent data collected independently by participating states. Participation rates and collection methods vary by state, so values should be considered relative rather than absolute.
